Light Obscuration for Reliable Particle Counting

The LO (Light Obscuration) module provides an orthogonal measurement method for counting and sizing particles in liquid samples – an ideal complement to image-based analysis of the SMILLA HiRes-FIM module. It enables two measurement techniques in one single sample run, boosting both analytical depth and operational efficiency.

The measurable particle size range spans from 1 to 120 µm, depending on the flow cell used in the FIM module upstream. Even in samples with high particle concentrations, the LO module delivers robust and precise data. With an optimized flow rate, the system ensures excellent resolution and highly accurate particle detection – even in challenging applications.
